My first experience with BodyRoc came at the Hartford Circuit Downtown event over the summer and I've been dying to come back for more ever since! Now that I have, I think it's safe to say I'm HOOKED!

BodyRoc's signature high intensity, circuit-style workout combines cardio intervals on their self-propelling treadmills with free weights, floor work and heavy bag boxing. As someone who has never tried boxing before, I had NO idea how much I would actually LOVE it. If you're looking to take your workout to the next level, this is the place to do it!

STAFF: 8.5

Walk in and first thing, the front desk greets you, signs you in and sets you up for a great experience. They'll provide you with any equipment you'll need for class and answer any questions you have. You're required to come 30 minutes before your very first visit, which is a feature I really LOVE. Arriving early enables you to familiarize yourself with the studio, equipment and staff as well as for the staff to get to know YOU, your needs, abilities and goals.


No outdoor shoes allowed! CAN I GET A WOOP WOOP!

Since floor work is involved (think sit-ups, planks, burpees, etc.) the last thing I want to do is roll around in some dirt or possible dog feces. BodyRoc requires you to use indoor shoes only which prevents unnecessary wear and tear on the equipment and keeps the studio clean; I am all about it!

Don't have your own boxing gloves? No prob, you can rent a pair for $3. Clean towels are provided (trust me, you'll need one) and you can pre-order a protein smoothie they'll have ready and waiting for you after class (as always, please ask about ingredients before you purchase).


As a runner with a background in HIIT (high intensity interval training), I can't tell you how refreshing it is to find a studio that merges the two so well. Their self-propelling treadmills are a game changer and I had no idea how much I was going to LOVE the heavy bag boxing portion of class!!

Each circuit leaves you just on the edge of your comfort zone, which tempts you to push harder while also feeling capable of doing so. Even though the structure of class doesn't change, no workout is the same. The trainers are always switching up the intervals and boxing sequences so you will NEVER get bored.

Although each class is full, I never feel like I'm running out of room or squished in there like a sardine. I give it two thumbs up!

MUSIC: 8.4

One word: badass. Even if you're not a fan of rap music, you'll find yourself wanting to TURN. IT. UP. The music is loud, but not so loud that you can't hear the trainer's instructions or leave with your ears ringing like at other studios. Each trainer has their own style and playlist.


Want to feel how powerful you can really be? Take a BodyRoc class. You will be pushed, you will sweat and you will have SO much fun doing it! This is a friendly, no-judgement zone where you won't feel like the odd man out or stick out like a sore thumb if it's your first class. This is a place where they truly want you to succeed. Rather than take your money, they aim to EARN it. YOUR fitness goals come first and they are always offering various first time promotions. Regular pricing is typical ($20 for a drop-in) and well worth the investment.
